Making Your Grief Count
Grief can be a very powerful and overwhelming experience that changes your life. It is a mixture of pain, confusion, the loss of purpose and discovering a new or deeper meaning to life. Often family and friends have trouble understanding the depth of this journey. But it is understanding, and compassion that is needed in order to heal and get on with life again.
St. Pius X Catholic Church Stephen Ministry will be offering an eight-week program that will give those who are grieving an opportunity to better understand this complicated process of grief. Making Your Grief Count is a group education and support program designed by the Porter Loring Family Care Services. Each week a specific aspect of grief will be explored and participants will have the opportunity to examine how this topic relates to their own unique grief experience. It also provides a place for people to share their experiences and support each other in this journey.
The program will meet from 11:30 to 1:00pm. It will meet for eight weeks on Tuesdays starting September 28th. The facilitator will be Darwin Huartson, M. Div., BCC from Porter Loring Family Care Services.
The program will be a combination of teaching, discussion and learning activities. The sessions are open to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, and there is no charge for the program.
